Chantell Coetzee
Chantell Coetzee is a wife, mother, writer, community advocate and the heart behind A Sunflower for the Soul—a platform created from a journey of love, loss, resilience and hope. For many years, Chantell has poured her heart into serving others, supporting her community and creating spaces where people feel seen, valued and cared for. Her journey has taken her through motherhood, marriage, community projects, charity work, writing and, most profoundly, the devastating loss of her beloved son, Dantè. Dantè was her sunshine and her light. His life, although far too short, left an everlasting mark on her heart and became the inspiration behind much of the work she does today. Through her own experience with grief, Chantell discovered that grief is not something that simply disappears with time. It changes, evolves and becomes something we learn to carry. She also discovered how important it is for grieving people to have someone who simply understands. That realisation became the foundation for her writing. Chantell is the author of Heaven Holds My Heart, a deeply personal book honouring Dantè's life and telling a mother's story of love and loss. She is also creating The Grief Companion, a resource designed to help people navigate the many faces of grief and understand that there is no single way or timeline for grieving. Her work also includes Grief Jars, created to provide a tangible source of comfort and reflection for people navigating difficult seasons, and Dantè's Wings, a growing vision dedicated to turning Dantè's legacy into something that can help others. Through A Sunflower for the Soul, Chantell brings all these pieces together. Her writing explores grief, motherhood, family, faith, healing, personal growth and the realities of finding your way through life's darkest moments. She believes that people don't always need someone to fix their pain—they sometimes simply need someone to sit beside them in it. Chantell's message is simple: You are not alone. She believes that even when life changes forever, love does not end. Sometimes it becomes a memory. Sometimes it becomes a story. Sometimes it becomes a book, a helping hand, a community or a little jar filled with words of comfort. And sometimes, it becomes a sunflower. A Sunflower for the Soul is Chantell's way of taking the light she has been given, carrying it through the darkness, and sharing it with others. 🌻🪽
